President of the Italian FA, Giancarlo Abete, has confirmed that Italy are interested in submitting a bid for the right to host Euro 2016.
Italy missed out on hosting Euro 2012, losing out to a joint bud from Poland and the Ukraine."Italy are interested because we cannot pull out from trying to host a major international tournament," Abete told Radio Rai.
"We have to activate and find ways of giving out football some hope. We have until March 9 to present our bid."
With Scotland and Wales pulling out from making a bid in February, Italy are likely to tussle with France for the right to host the finals.
